Udaipur, acclaimed as the most romantic & heritage city in the world, is settled in the state of Rajasthan in India. It is built around and on the Aravalli hills. Many lakes of the city add to the beauty of the historical city. These lakes were mainly created, to meet the needs of drinking water and irrigation, by building dams. Historically, Udaipur was the capital of the former kingdom of Mewar. It was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II. The land of Udaipur is drenched in history, and its culture floats in the air.

Lake Palace

Situated on the Jag Niwas Island in the middle of Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace is the most compelling of Udaipur’s attractions. It was built by Maharana Jagat Singh II almost two and a half centuries ago and is now revered as the Taj Lake Palace, one of the most beautiful and romantic hotels in the world. With the Aravalli Hills and city palace as backdrop, the beauty of the Palace and its surroundings is further accentuated.

City Palace

A palace complex built by Maharana Udai Singh, the City Palace is grandeur personified. A conglomeration of several buildings with towers, balconies and cupolas built all over, the City Palace also houses a crystal gallery, which boasts of royal artifacts and the world’s largest private collection of crystal.It is one of Rajasthan’s largest palaces and offers splendid views of Lake Pichola.

Dudh Talai

Dudh Talai is a one of the most beautiful place in City udaipur. Dudh Talai is another tourist attraction of City Udaipur. Dudh Talai is a small lake that adores the south-east direction of Pichola Lake. Located in the southern side of Shiv Niwas Palace, the stream adds to the picturesque triangle with Pichola on one side, Dudh Talai on the second.A “Rock Garden” from where one can enjoy sunset view in Lake Pichhola.

Fateh Sagar

Fateh Sagar Lake is situated in the city of Udaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar. Fateh Sagar Lake is an artificial lake in Udaipur and one of the four beautiful lakes in the city. Fatehsagar Lake said to be the pride of the City of Lakes of Udaipur (Rajasthan) INDIA.

Ambrai Ghat

Located on the bank of Lake Pichola, Ambrai Ghat is a wonderful place for photographers. City Palace and Lake Palace overlook this beautiful ghat, which means one gets an exclusive view of the two palaces from here. Ambrai Ghat often remains crowded with a large number of local couples coming here in the evening as the place is quite romantic. Sunset is the best time to be here as one can click the most beautiful pictures at that time.

Gulab Bagh

Gulab Bagh also known as Sajjan Niwas Garden is the largest garden of Rajasthan, sprawled over 100 acres of land. During 1850’s, Maharana Sajjan Singh took the initiative to built this beautiful garden. Sajjan Niwas Bagh is celebrated for its numerous varieties of roses. Due to abundance of rose flowers, this garden is also known as Gulab Bagh or Rose Garden. Innumerable array of roses, which are not common in the lands of India, makes the garden different from others. The arrangement of flower beds forms the highlight of this garden.

Jagdish Temple

Udaipur is home to some of the oldest temples in India. One of the most popular temples is the Jagdish Temple located in the City Palace complex. Representing the true Indo-Aryan style of architecture, this temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The four-armed idol of Lord Vishnu that stands in the main shrine is an astonishing work of art, carved out of a single piece of black stone.

Jag Mandir

The beautiful Jag Mandir Palace sits majestically on an island on the magnificent Lake Pichola. The construction of this palace was completed by Maharana Jagat Singh in the mid-17th century and was used as a summer resort by the royal family. The palace is an architectural marvel adorned with marble structures of eight elephants, spacious courtyards and gleaming white marble tiles. The views surrounding the palace are spectacular, especially during sunset.

Karni Mata Ropeway

Another dedicated temple is Shri Manshapurna Karni Mata Temple, located on the Machla Hills, near Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Park in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway is a popular ride up the hill to the Karni Mata temple and enroute offers views of the area around. It can get crowded during season.

Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal

Mewar region of Rajasthan is famous for its rich art and culture. Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal is an institution engaged in the studies of folk art, culture, songs and festivities of Rajasthan. The institution has a museum known as the Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum which exhibits the rural dresses, ornaments, puppets, folk musical instruments and paintings of Rajasthani culture. The puppet theatre here offers puppet shows as well.

Musical Fountain

Dudh Talai Musical Garden also known as Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay park, is a magnificent rock garden in Duddhtalaii. It is manage by Urban Development Trust, Udaipur. Visitors love the sunset and scenic view of Lake Pichola. This garden is the perfect example of modern architecture. From Dudh Talai Musical Garden, one can see the picturesque view of Jag Mandir, Lake Pichola, City Palace and Udaipur city. Its major attraction is its musical fountain which is first of its kind in Rajasthan.

Sajjangarh Palace

Overlooking the magnificent Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Sajjangarh Palace (also known as the Monsoon Palace), is a glorious residential palace situated on a hill top. It was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884 and offers spectacular panoramic views of Udaipur city and its stunning lakes, mountains and palaces. This majestic palace is truly a sight to behold especially when it is illuminated in the evenings.

Nehru Park

A huge park set on an island in the middle of the desert state of Rajasthan- Nehru Park feels like an absolute miracle.Take a romantic boat ride in the Fateh Sagar Lake and reach the oval shaped Nehru Island Garden. A pleasing sight from afar, this garden is even more beautiful when you step here, unfolding a variety of flora in all colours and sizes before your eyes. With its gentle fountains, immense greenery and a beautiful lily pond, this place is surely going to soothe your city worn nerves.

Pratap Smarak (Memorial)

Maharana Pratap Memorial is a historic site that is dedicated to the gallant Maharana Pratap. Situated at the top of Moti Margi or Pearl Hill, the memorial overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake. In Hindi, memorial is known as “smarak” and smarak is always made in the memory of loved ones. Maharana Pratap Memorial was constructed with the initiative taken by Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar with the help of a public trust.

Saheliyon ki Bari

Saheliyon-Ki-Bari or ‘garden of the maids’ in English was built by Maharana Bhopal Singh for a group of 48 young women attendants who accompanied a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. With its lush greenery, flowers, beautiful fountains, lotus pools, and marble artifacts and pavilions, Saheliyon-Ki-Bari offers splendid views and makes up for an ideal romantic setting.

Shilpgram

A unique crafts fair located north-west of Udaipur, Shilpgram beautifully displays the local art and culture of Rajasthan. It is also the venue of the Shilpgram Mela, a crafts fair held every year in November/December. A visit to Shilpgram makes for a truly fascinating experience and visitors can also buy beautiful handicrafts, hand-woven clothes, mirror work and embroidery work items.

Vintage Collection of Classic Cars Museum

Then Vintage Collection of Classic Cars Museum is the place to be. Belonging to the royal highness of Udaipur, the museum has cars which are almost 70 years old and all in working condition. The Rolls Royce Phantom, The Cadilacs, Chevalate, Morais, The Mercs and the Austins are some of the cars that you can look forward to seeing. These cars not only belong to the present Maharaja but the preceding royalties as well.

Sukhadia Circle

Sukhadia Circle (Square) is a popular recreational centre in Udaipur in Indian state of Rajasthan. It is a large roundabout in the city’s northern suburb of Panchwati, on the road to Ranakpur and Mt. Abu. It providing options for fast food centers, camel and horse rides, boat ride and kids play zone areas.

Ahar

The royal cremation ground in Udaipur, Ahar is situated about 3kms away from the city. Like the palaces, the Mewar Kings have put effort to make the cremation area look resplendent as well. With 372 cenotaphs of the maharanas and queens of Mewar, Ahar is a spectacular place of snowy domes. Amongst all the cenotaphs, Maharana Sangram Singh’s cenotaph has been the most attractive and popular with the tourists. Ahar is one calm and quiet place and is thus visited by people who either love history or are in search of peace

Bagore ki Haveli

Bagore-ki-Haveli is a haveli in Udaipur in Rajasthan state in India. It is right on the waterfront of Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat. Amir Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar, built it in the eighteenth century.The palace has over a hundred rooms, with displays of costumes and modern art. The glass and mirror in the interiors are Haveli work. It also preserves an example of Mewar painting on the walls of the Queen’s Chamber. The two peacocks made from small pieces of colored glasses are examples of glasswork.
